We celebrated Marissa's 6th birthday in April. She lucked out and actually got to celebrate twice! The first celebration was a joint birthday party with Rissa and her friend, Grace, who turned 7. We made a castle cake for them and had 6 candles on it for Rissa and a number 7 candle for Grace.
Above: Grace and Rissa being silly!! Their party was at a place called Jolly Rogers. There is a pool there so all the kids got to swim. After we arrived at Jolly Rogers we were told we weren't allowed to bring outside food in - so no cake! How can you have a birthday with no cake?? So, we let the kids swim for a couple hours and then took the party back home and had pizza and cake there. Fortunately we got pictures of the cake right after it was finished because it didn't survived the bumpy Kenyan roads to and from the party!! OOPS! It still tasted great though! :)
Rissa's actual birthday was on April 23rd. We had another family over for dinner that evening and had some cupcakes with icing roses on them. We didn't get many pictures that evening because the electricity went out right before we had the cake so it was pretty dark in the house for a couple hours. It came back on after the kids were in bed!
